LA Times Festival of Books

Another good day of author panels at UCLA topped off by a new story written and performed by T.C. Boyle, one of the best entertainers in literature. I was pleased and honored to finally meet Bill McKibben. I'm a 350.org member and feature the number, which represents the safest level in parts per million of CO2 we can have in the atmosphere, in both of my novels. We stand at 391 and climbing. Without a price on carbon it will only get worse. We see the effects now and they are not good.

Earth Day 2010

I attended an mini eco festival out in Ventura yesterday. More of a street fair than a clearing house for solutions of environmental problems, but it's the idea of Earth restoration and preservation that's important. Once the concept is in the collective consciousness the entrepreneurial solutions come forth. Use less, spend less, live more.

Individual and collective action will drown the noise of the denialists and all they'll have is the penalty for overuse.
