Why I'm Still Skeptical of Lomborg
Basically because he doesn't understand environmental science at all. His techniques are specious and succumb to a standard overgeneralization fallacy, and while they may pass in a social science paradigm they don't in a scientific one. My favorite quotes from his testimony to the Jay Inslee led congressional committee?
"I'm not a scientist."
And , "Global warming is real."
He argues the money is better spent on AIDS and malaria. Hello? Both are "Hot Zone" evolutionary creations.
I will link his defenses to criticism mostly by Scientific American Magazine which isn't environmentally extreme except by the most conservative political standards, which have the lowest bar imaginable to begin with. Lomborg passes that one.
And to address the forest issue, a patchwork of new industrial tree farms is not the same as a healthy old growth forest. The latter is fire resistant, while the former, also a Lomborigan indicator of environmental health, is kindling for the catasptrophic wild fires we've seen lately. Even a child can make this critical distinction, yet Lomborg can't. Is it the business school? Because it isn't science.

Hi Mark,
I noticed you're a writer. I'm also trying to write a screenplay. My email is: lynnvinc@hotmail.com
Good for you Lynn. I'm not only trying to write one, I wrote two of them years ago. Lately though, since 1999 I'm writng books, both nonfiction and novels. Good luck. It's a tough buisiness.
Solaity wrote: "Environmentalism is in part a real argument, in part a religion, in part an aesthetic; the second and third parts make people too willing to accept the first."
This is a logical fallacy that purports science as religion. That's false on its face. It's all we need to know about the writer. Learn to think for yourself
instead of getting your talking points from World Net Daily.
