Mercury Rising

This is an alarming survey of the mercury content in freshwater lakes in the eastern US. Due to the prevailng circum-global winds i.e. west to east, mercury, a byproduct of the burning of coal in midwest powerplants settles in the lakes and in the grand banks fishing grounds of the North Atlantic, which are already less than grand for other competing reasons, all human-caused.
