350 Awareness Day

I attended a great presentation ay NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory this afternoon promoted by 350.org. Sea level rise was the most disturbing discovery. The displacement of water from the melting of ice sheets in both hemispheres congregate around the US coastline. Sea level rise is not uniform. Talk about your chickens coming home to roost.

Yet whack job deniers still persist. Like the Superfreakowingnuts and their hose to heaven pie-in-the-sky "solution" from the people who brought you the incompetent Windows OS, and commenters on major newspapers who claim this sort of wisdom.
"To respond to the carbon dioxide claim, true scientific data show that we had higher concentrations of carbon dioxide in 1820 and 1940 than we do now."

Why does this sort of ignorant garbage litter a major newspaper's web site? I mean really, many of us know we are riding on a ship with fools but are a long way from being a ship comprised of fools. One won't get that impression reading a comment thread at an environmental article on The Washington Post. What sad times for media.

CO2 is now at 388 ppm and climbing. 350 is the safest level of carbon dioxide we can have without drastic climate repercussions.

Political forecast:Increasing cloudiness for many among us.

Last year we had a drought and a warm winter. It was due to global warming. This year we're having floods and seemed to have missed Fall with the weather turning cool so quickly. That's due to global warming, too.

It's great to take a position on which everything, including contradictions, "prove it."

I also think that global warming is causing my football team to lose.

Unfortunately the globe is still 1.3 degrees warmer and climbing regardless of those short term variations. That seems to be something conservatives can't grasp. Your team is just bad. That's easier to comprehend for anyone.

Right, my team is bad. So is the "global warming" team that makes up their scores rather than admit defeat.

At least my team actually plays the game rather than manipulates who wins or loses using phony models.

No manipulation there unless you think the people who put men on the moon and rovers on Mars made that up too. If so get help.

As for your "team" I refer you to Strother Martin, in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. "Morons. I've got morons on my team." Spit. "Bingo!"

Calling top scientists names isn't an argument Woody. Come back when you have legitimate evidence besides the usual weather in wagga wagga wallow. No wonder your people lost and ran the country into an Iraqi ditch.

Hansen is only a crackpot in right wing crackpot circles. NASA doesn't hire crackpots. You confuse that with the crackheads like Limbaugh and Beck. I don't publish defamatory comments.

And, you better not criticize Obama, if you know what's good for you.

The first link is dead Woody so I can't comment on that. Well cap and trade is open for gaming, but that doesn't mean it will be if, you know, folks are on the lookout for the gamers eh? Stating policy as employees has to be authorized in any company. The problem with people like you is politics has wiped out your hard drive. Bush altered reports to make them false. Top that.

Yes this is about right. China and India have to pay too. And your problem is?

My problem with China and India's refusal to play fair was never a problem with you when Bush was President and you blamed inaction on him. But, you give a pass with Obama for exactly the same thing. Thanks for proving my point.

Shouldn't the future of the world, at least as you see it, be more important than your politics?

It doesn't matter, though. No matter what mankind would or could do, cap-and-trade would accomplish nothing except to take civilization back to the dark ages. Any attempts to make substantive changes are too feeble and too expensive.
