I wondered about this myself. The way the admin. sat on the whole thing for a while, stewed over it, as though calculating a way to capitalize on it, and now they are using it make all of journalism look bad. Maybe I'm paranoid, but part of me wonders if the whole thing wasn't planned in advance to smear journalism. But it does point to one of the many risks of relying on anonymous sources.
Yeah but it doesn't take much these days to blame journalists. The administration won't offer anything on the record, which makes anonymous sources all the more necessary. I mean did the prisoners do this?
